UN assures Nigeria of full support against terrorism
UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon condemned the bombing of the
mosque, one of the largest in the state, saying that there was no
justification for attacks on innocent civilians.
Following the recent bomb attack on the Kano Central Mosque, the United Nations (UN) has promised Nigeria its full support to bring an end to terrorist acts in the country.
UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon condemned the bombing of the mosque, one of the largest in the state, saying that there was no justification for attacks on innocent civilians.
Ban spoke via statement released concerning the November 28 attack which claimed hundreds of lives.
The
Secretary-General sent “deepest condolences to the families of the
deceased and to the people and Government of Nigeria” and reiterated
“the full support of the UN to Nigeria’s efforts to fight terrorism and
to provide security to the population consistent with international law
and Nigeria’s human rights obligations.”
The UN
head also wished a swift recovery to the injured persons and urged the
authorities to bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice.
